Obstetrics
The word “obstetri” or “obstetrix” in Latin seems to have something to do with the word “obstare”, which means to stand beside it (meaning to accompany), in this case next to the woman who is giving birth. Another opinion says that the original word is “adstetrix” which means to help someone who is in labor. Obstetrics is a branch of medical science that deals with pregnancy, childbirth, and the puerperium. Obstetrics or more commonly known as Midwifery is a part of medical science that specializes in studying all issues related to the birth of a baby. Thus it can be said that the objects of this knowledge are pregnancy, childbirth, childbirth, and newborn babies.

Gynecology
Whereas Gynecology literally means the knowledge of women. Gynecology comes from the word Gynecology, is a branch of medical science that discusses and deals with diseases of the female reproductive system (genital tract). There are several countries separating the two branches of obstetrics and gynecology into different specialists but most obstetricians are also obstetricians.

Have you ever watched a Korean drama called Obstetrics and Gynecology which was released in 2010?

It tells the story of a female obstetrician who must face various cases that take place every day in the Obstetrics and Gynecology department of a small suburban hospital. From the drama, we are presented with various kinds of cases in the field of obstetrics and gynecology with varying degrees of difficulty.

In one episode, it was told of a woman who escaped from the hospital when she was suffering from pre-eclampsia. Then, meet the main obstetrician in the shopping center. The woman fell and experienced seizures. The scene was really tense where the Doctor was forced to take quick action to deliver labor right then and there with the modest equipment that could be obtained there. Even though it was born before the ambulance arrived, it was fortunate that the baby could be saved. While the mother also experienced only a little bleeding.
